Minecraft University FAQs

We are a whitelisted server running on Paper 1.20-1.20.4 Java edition!
When we verify our members, we want to make sure that you are a college/university student (age 17+) before you join the server.
Not at all! We have game nights and different communities of people who play other games. Our Minecraft server is just our main attraction.
Follow the instructions on https://minecraftuniversity.net/get-verified to get verified on our Minecraft and Discord server! You can still join the Discord if you are unverified, but you will have limited access to our channels.
Please allow at least 24 hours for verification requests to be assessed. If we don't verify you within 24 hours, please message one of us or in the #get-verified channel.
You can say you don't have a Minecraft account or that you're here to meet other students.
If you have the student role and have access to more channels on the Discord, congrats! You were verified!
Absolutely! We love having you here and you are welcome to stay or leave. If you know of a friend that is an alum let us know and we will work with them on their verification. If you are an alum, let our staff know and we will give you a special Alum role!
Typically every 6 months, we do a hard reset (new world, cleared inventories).

Our moderators and admin staff are anyone with the role of Dean, Associate Dean, Advisor, and Teaching Assistant! Message ModMail to message all of us if you have any questions or concerns!
ModMail is a bot that opens up a channel for all admins to see and respond to. Message ModMail for any issues or questions that arise. If it's down, feel free to message any admin and we'll relay the question along to the rest of the staff!
Don't worry, we don't find out what your actual GPA is. The GPA role is a way to measure how active you are on the server! If you send more chats you'll naturally get bumped up to 4.0 GPA. See the leaderboard here: https://mee6.xyz/minecraft-uni/
We have 4 tiers for our Patreon supporters:
Summa Cum Laude - $10 a month
Magna Cum Laude - $5 a month
Cum Laude - $3 a month

The MCU Simp role is given to members who have bought our merch.
You can go to our #role-selection channel and react to the messages accordingly!

We have anywhere from 30 to 45 quality of life plug-ins for you and for us. Some plug-ins include Simple Voice Chat and GSit.
While you do not need mods in order to join the server, we allow mods like Optifine, Xaeros/Voxelmap Map Mods, and Simple Voice Mod. However; freecam and similar mods are not allowed. Anyone caught hacking to gain an upper hand will be reprimanded.

No, we have always strayed away from using DynMap on the server and because it does not give people a choice for their places/builds to be public or private we will not use it. Instead, the different maps that people come up with each semester are great and we love to see those!
